Course Objectives

By the end of the "Summer Course: Exploring the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church" course, students are expected to:

  • Students will be able to articulate the fundamental beliefs of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, including the nature of God, the Trinity, and Christology.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique Ethiopian Orthodox biblical canon, including the additional books recognized by the Church and the interpretive traditions unique to this faith.

  • Understand the historical development of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, its traditions, liturgies, and its place within the broader context of Christianity.

  • Experience and reflect on the Ethiopian Orthodox liturgical worship and sacramental life to appreciate its spiritual significance and communal importance.
